SPDs are often treated as a compliance checkbox, but a well-crafted SPD can be one of a plan's most valuable risk-management tools. This presentation will move beyond ERISA's bare disclosure requirements to highlight the provisions that the most effective SPDs include and that many plans inadvertently leave out. Drawing on current ERISA litigation trends, we will walk through key provisions that can strengthen a plan's defensive posture and reduce administrative headaches. Attendees will leave with a practical framework for reviewing their own SPDs and identifying gaps worth closing, whether to improve day-to-day plan administration or to better position the plan in the event of a dispute.

CLE Credit

Applications for accreditation will be submitted to California, Colorado, Florida, New York, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Uniform Certificates of Attendance will be issued for all other jurisdictions so that attendees may self-apply if their jurisdiction(s) allow.
