We are pleased to share that Partner Ioanna Stavroulia and Associate Rafaella Chrysafi from our Dispute Resolution department, attended the 1st Interdisciplinary Conference on Law and Medicine, held on 11 June 2026 at the Landmark Hotel in Nicosia.
Jointly organised by the Cyprus Bar Association and the Cyprus Medical Association, the inaugural conference brought together lawyers, healthcare professionals and other experts to explore the evolving relationship between law and medicine and to encourage greater collaboration between the two professions.
The conference attracted significant interest, with more than 300 participants attending a full-day programme dedicated to contemporary legal and medical challenges. Through presentations, panel discussions and expert-led sessions, participants examined a wide range of issues affecting both sectors, including medical negligence and liability, medical ethics, disciplinary proceedings, professional confidentiality, patients' rights, public health, and the legal implications of emerging technologies.
Particular attention was given to the growing impact of digitalisation and artificial intelligence within the healthcare sector, as well as the bioethical and regulatory challenges arising from technological innovation. Discussions also explored ESG-related considerations in healthcare and the importance of maintaining high professional and ethical standards in an increasingly complex environment.
The conference highlighted the value of an interdisciplinary approach in addressing issues at the intersection of health, law and public policy, while reinforcing the importance of ongoing professional education and dialogue between legal and medical practitioners.
We are delighted that Ioanna and Rafaella had the opportunity to participate in this landmark event and engage with leading professionals from both the legal and medical sectors. Their attendance reflects our firm's commitment to continuous learning and staying abreast of developments affecting highly regulated industries.
