Joseph Borg, Partner at WH Partners, will be speaking at Finticipate, taking place in Belgrade on 29 May. The event will bring together leading voices from across fintech, payments, and digital finance to explore the technologies and regulatory forces shaping the next phase of the industry.

Joseph will participate in the panel titled ‘Fintech’s Coming of Age: Hype, Reality, and the Road Ahead’, which will explore which fintech and technology trends are set to define the next five years, including BNPL, stablecoins, CBDCs, and payment platforms, and which may lose momentum. It will also examine the resilience of fintech infrastructure amid economic shocks and geopolitical uncertainty, alongside the ongoing challenge of aligning European regulatory frameworks with local implementation.

Key regulatory debates, including MiCA versus the GENIUS Act in the stablecoin space, will be discussed in terms of their potential to shape global standards. The session will further address AI in financial services, focusing on the gap between hype, investment trends, and real-world adoption.

Overall, the discussion will provide a forward-looking assessment of how fintech is maturing within an increasingly complex regulatory and macroeconomic environment.
