Barnes & Thornburg Partner to Lead Indiana's Most Prestigious Legal Organization
Partner John Maley has been elected President of the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA) for its 130th year. The prestigious appointment recognizes John's decades of dedication to the legal profession and his commitment to serving Indiana's legal community.
As ISBA President, John will lead an organization of 10,000 members — including lawyers, judges, paralegals, law librarians, law students, and court administrators. His vision centers on the association's core mission: to "serve and advocate" on behalf of members and the public interest as the independent voice of the legal profession.
Founded by Benjamin Harrison in 1896, the Indiana State Bar Association is the largest legal organization in Indiana. John follows recent ISBA presidents Amy Dudas, Hon. Tom Felts, and Michael Jasaitis in this role.
His previous ISBA roles include serving as treasurer and leading the Appellate Practice Section, where he collaborated with some of the nation's finest appellate judges and attorneys. He continues his involvement with the Wayne County Bar Association, Whitewater Valley Pro Bono Commission, and the Indianapolis and Marion County Bar Associations.
