London – Mayer Brown was named Most Innovative in Sustainability at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards and in the Financial Times' 2025 'Innovative Lawyers: Europe Report'. The firm was ranked as one of the most innovative law firms in Europe and singled out for recognition in the following categories:

Winner: Most Innovative in Sustainability:for advising Standard Chartered Bank on the establishment of its historic, first-of-its-kind $3 billion clean energy infrastructure CLO platform with Apollo. Structured Finance partner Chris McGarry was also commended for leading on the matter, which has provided a practice template to mobilise private capital into clean energy.

Highly Commended: Innovation in Training and Development: for the firm's embrace GenAI initiative, which has delivered training, guidance and governance surrounding the use of Generative AI solutions to members of the firm and its key clients.

Highly Commended: Innovative Lawyers in Disputes and Crisis Management: for advising Shepherd Construction in a landmark construction and cladding dispute worth almost £70 million, and one of the first to consider the new cause of action against cladding manufacturers under section 149 of the Building Safety Act.

Profiled: Intrapreneur: European pro bono head Mehreen Malik for helping shape Mayer Brown's pro bono culture, which saw a 68% increase in pro bono hours completed by London lawyers and a 31% increase in the number of lawyers delivering those pro bono hours in the five years since she joined the firm.

RSGI researchers check and assess submissions through interviews with clients, senior lawyers, executives and experts, and submissions featured in the report are those that ranked highest in each category.
