Washington, DC – Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Tison Campbell as a partner in its Energy, Infrastructure, and Resources practice. He joins the firm’s Washington, DC office from the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Campbell brings nearly two decades of experience in nuclear law and is supported by a strong background in government regulation and environmental and administrative law. His practice spans a wide array of legal disciplines, including rulemaking, reactor licensing, nuclear fuel cycle regulation, federal ethics, and international law. He has led multiple divisions within the NRC’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC), providing legal guidance on complex regulatory matters and spearheading initiatives to improve operational efficiency and technological adoption.

In his most recent role, Campbell served as Assistant General Counsel for Legislation, Ethics, and Administrative Law, where he also acted as the agency’s Designated Agency Ethics Official. He chaired OGC’s Artificial Intelligence Committee, advising on the legal implications of AI-generated content and internal workflow enhancements. His leadership extended to information technology services, where he directed the IT Services Development and Operations Division in the Office of the Chief Information Officer, overseeing cloud transitions, software platform integration, and telecommunications management. His work has supported high-stakes licensing, litigation, and policy development across the energy and infrastructure sectors.

John Crossley, a leader of K&L Gates’ global Energy, Infrastructure, and Resources practice, stated: “Tison’s arrival marks a significant step in our continued growth and commitment to serving clients in the energy and infrastructure space. His deep regulatory experience and leadership in emerging areas like artificial intelligence and international nuclear law will be invaluable as we help clients navigate evolving legal and technological landscapes.”

David Wochner, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Washington, DC office, added: “Tison brings a rare combination of technical insight, legal acumen, and strategic leadership. His addition strengthens our existing nuclear law capabilities throughout the globe and enhances our ability to support clients across the full spectrum of energy and infrastructure projects.”

Campbell’s addition follows other strategic hires in the firm’s Washington, DC office and reflects K&L Gates’ ongoing investment in building a globally integrated team to meet the needs of clients in dynamic and highly regulated industries. Healthcare and FDA partner Mark Ogunsusi, public policy and law lawyers Marne Marotta, David Skillman, Varun Jain, and Tara Ganapathy, energy partner Thomas Allen, and the firm’s first national security advisor Marissa Cloutier also joined the firm’s Washington, DC office this year.

K&L Gates’ Energy practice assists clients involved in the many aspects of the global energy, infrastructure, and resources space through a variety of legal disciplines, including, among others, project development, finance, construction, energy and environmental regulation, government contracting, public policy, cross-border investment, acquisitions, and dispute resolution. With lawyers in Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and South America, the practice serves project sponsors and developers in power generation, renewable energy, oil and gas, LNG, hydrogen, mining, transportation, and social infrastructure, as well as investors, banks, manufacturers, and contractors involved in the financing, building, and operation of these projects.
