WASHINGTON (June 30, 2025) - Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney secured a momentous victory for the U.S. industry with the International Trade Commission's (ITC) final affirmative determinations in the antidumping and countervailing duty investigations into imports of vanillin from China. On June 30th, 2025, the ITC affirmed that the domestic industry is materially injured by imports of unfairly dumped and subsidized vanillin from China.
"It is difficult to overstate the importance of this major victory," said Daniel B. Pickard, lead counsel to the petitioner and Buchanan's International Trade and National Security Practice Group leader. "The significant volumes of unfairly priced imports of Chinese vanillin products have left injured the domestic industry for far too long. Today's determination will restore fair pricing in the marketplace and safeguard the interests of domestic producers. We're very proud of this result."
With the ITC's determinations, Commerce will issue antidumping and countervailing duty orders on imports of vanillin from China. Prior to the ITC's vote, Commerce announced duties ranging from 190.15 to 379.87 percent.
The Buchanan team representing the petitioner also includes Milton Koch, Joseph Pickard, Claire Webster, Brandon Custard, Amanda Wetzel, Natan Tubman, Grace Welborn, and Carson Easterling.
