With more than 25 years’ experience driving technology strategy and implementing innovative solutions at global law firms, financial services firms and technology companies, Lampert is well positioned to further accelerate Sheppard Mullin’s legal tech operations and internal firm systems to bring the highest level of innovation and sophistication to clients and attorneys. As the new CIO of the Am Law 50 firm, Lampert will lead a team of 90 professionals, overseeing information governance and records, network infrastructure, support systems, software training, project management and data teams.

Luca Salvi, chair of Sheppard Mullin, noted, “David is at the top of his field. Innovation is a core focus for our firm, and David’s background and expertise will help us deploy the right innovative technology solutions across all lines of business to better serve our clients.”

Lampert joins Sheppard Mullin’s Business Services leadership team, which is led by Robert Brown, Chief Operating Officer, and consists of nine Chiefs, each with over 20 years of individual experience. Last year, Kate Cain joined the firm as Chief Knowledge and Innovation Officer and Chief Practice Management Officer Keri Gavin was promoted to Chief Financial Officer. “We have a best-in-class senior Business Services team, and David is no exception,” said Brown. “His track record in successfully contributing to and implementing technology strategies will drive our firm forward in this rapidly evolving landscape. Together, David and Kate, along with our other Chiefs, will accelerate innovation and deliver exceptional value to our clients, attorneys and all business services professionals.” Brown joined the firm in 2023 and is responsible for the daily operations of the firm, including all functions under the Business Services team.

Based in New York, Lampert joins Sheppard Mullin from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft where he served as CIO since November 2023. Prior to that, he served as CIO at Loeb & Loeb and held leadership roles at A&O Shearman and Epstein Becker Green, as well as roles in the consulting, financial services and technology industries overseeing technology, innovation and technology strategy. Lampert is a strategic leader with demonstrated success directing cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of technology solutions with a particular focus of advancing business strategy.

“I’m excited to be leading the technology function at such a forward-thinking firm,” Lampert said. “Sheppard Mullin views innovative technologies as a strategic advantage for its clients. I look forward to working with firm management and alongside the senior leadership team as we continue to help the firm drive growth and enhance client service through innovation.”
