Our firm had the pleasure of acting as legal counsel to international private equity firm Cinven on its investment in Grant Thornton UK Advisory & Tax LLP, a newly formed limited liability company – registered in England and Wales – which will hold the non-audit functions of Grant Thornton UK.
Our competition law team advised Cinven with respect to the merger control regime in Cyprus and prepared and submitted, on its behalf, the required notification to the Cyprus Commission for the Protection of Competition. The transaction was successfully cleared by the Cyprus competition authority on 11 February 2025.
On the integration, Maxim Crewe and Rory Neeson, Partners and Heads of Cinven’s Financial Services and Business Services Sector teams respectively commented: “We’re excited to be working with Grant Thornton’s industry-leading CEO and the Partnership as we support Grant Thornton through its next phase of growth.” This investment is expected to contribute to the growth of both Grant Thornton UK and, by extension, Grant Thornton Cyprus.
