ACCEPT DECLINE
You are invited to attend an in-person lunch and learn session as part of Fasken's AI series: AIDA is Dead! Long live…?: The Need for AI Policies for Licensors and Users, and a Crystal Ball view into future Canadian AI legislation.
On September 17, 2024, we presented Same… but… Different: How does the proposed amended Canadian Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA) now compare to the new EU Artificial Intelligence Act. In this follow-up session, we discuss the future of AI regulation in Canada following the likely demise of AIDA with the prorogation of Parliament and the implications for distributors and managers of AI systems seeking to license and use AI systems globally, based on observations of developing global AI laws. With a focus on a case study related to a licensed High-Impact System, we will:
(i) examine the key recognized AI principles that underlie AI
regulation,
(ii) review key AI laws around the world (U.S., Europe, South
Korea, and what was the pending AIDA in Canada),
(iii) analyze commonalities between the statutory requirements in
these laws, and
(iv) based on the foregoing, forecast what a successor to AIDA
would look like.
Agenda:
- 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm Registration and Lunch
- 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm Presentation
We hope you can make it.
