On September 26, 2017, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare ("Secretaria del Trabajo y Previsión Social" or "STPS") expanded the block of days that are deemed as nonworking days, to allow authorities to inspect the damage caused to the local offices, as a result of the earthquake that occurred on September 19, 2107.

The STPS initially declared the period of September 19 through September 22, 2017, as nonworking days. This period is now extended through September 28, 2017. During this period, all proceedings before the STPS are suspended. Likewise, this time period will not be included in calculations to determine timeframes or deadlines.

For more information on this topic, please read our recent publications concerning the non-working days as declared by various governmental authorities, including the STPS, the Mexican Institute of Social Security ("IMSS," which stands for "Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social") and the General Plenary Session of the Superior Chamber of the Federal Court of Administrative Justice.

We will continue to monitor this situation and will report on any pertinent developments.
