The new Building Act will enter into force on 1 January 2025 and replace the provisions concerning construction in the Land Use and Building Act currently in force.

The new regulation would mean a shift from operator-driven to state-led selection of areas for offshore wind power projects, as is the case with Finnish territorial waters.

The need for data centre capacity has increased significantly in recent years, and the breakthrough of digitalisation and creative artificial intelligence will further accelerate this development.
