We continue to await guidance from the provincial government about re-opening certain sectors of the economy, but guidance has been provided to employers running industrial camps and hotels. These employers are generally considered to be essential businesses and have been able to remain open during the partial economic shutdown.
Among other measures, employers must develop and put in place an infection prevention and control protocol. They must also ensure high levels of hygiene and provide for a rapid response if a worker develops symptoms of COVID-19. Workers with symptoms are not to be permitted to work.
Workers are also required to follow the protocols developed, practice diligent hygiene and reduce close contact to the extent practical. Workers in camps are subject to further requirements concerning leaving the worksite and their accommodations.
