As a way of moving the economy and retake the investments in infrastructure, the Federal Government announced a new concessions program. The present phase of the so called "Investment in Logistics Program" has projects due to begin on the next three years.
The Program contemplates, basically, projects in four different sectors: highways, railways, airports and harbors. The aim of this program is to improve the competitiveness of the economy and reduce logistics costs for the industries and agriculture.
In the highways sector, the program foresees 11 competitions for the 2015/2016 period.
In the railways sector, the Government announced that it will improve the viability studies of the projects through the Interest Manifestation Procedure (PMI – Procedimento de Manifestação de Interesse), as it also announced that the winner of this procedure will be the one who offers the highest grant value.
In the harbor sector, the aim is to authorize the implementation of private terminals and leasehold bids.
It is also included on the program the authorization of four new concessions for airports (Salvador, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre e Florianópolis).
