The Global Connections Fund (GCF) aims to provide support for Australian Researchers and Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to collaborate with counterparts in key global economies, promote researcher-industry engagement and knowledge transfer, and foster commercialisation.

The program, a new initiative of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE) and supported by the Australian Government, includes two forms of funding: Priming Grants and Bridging Grants.

Priming Grants – Expressions of Interest close 6th May 2016

Priming Grants offer total funding of up to $7,000 per applicant and are intended to enhance collaboration between Australian small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and researchers with their counterparts in a number of priority listed economies. However, they are not designed to fund ongoing research costs or to support existing collaborative activities.

The 2016 call for applications is now open to Australian-based Researchers and Australian-based SMEs, who must be the primary applicants. To be eligible, the applicant must have already identified a potential international partner and have their agreement before placing an Expression of Interest (EOI) by 6th May 2016. Only approved EOIs are eligible to make a formal Priming Grant Application.
