The annual update to allowable charges for H-2A and H-2B workers' meals and travel subsistence reimbursement went into effect yesterday, March 21, 2018.

There is a maximum amount H-2A employers may charge workers for providing three (3) meals per day during the employment period. This allowable meal charge has been raised from $12.07 per day to $12.26 per day.

Additionally, H-2A and H-2B employers are responsible for providing, by either paying in advance or reimbursing workers, the reasonable costs of daily travel-related subsistence between employees' countries and the worksite and vice versa. The minimum reimbursement amount to workers has been raised from $12.07 per day to $12.26 per day. The maximum amount of required reimbursement remained at $51.00 per day.
