On November 14, 2016, SEC Chair Mary Jo White announced that she will leave the SEC at the end of President Obama's term. The press release announcing her departure highlighted the SEC's increased efforts at investor protection and the SEC's new enforcement approaches, as well as rulemakings responding to issues raised by the financial crisis. The SEC completed all of the mandates placed upon it by the JOBS Act, as well as the majority of those under the Dodd-Frank Act under Chair White.
