The UAE government has made the decision to reduce fees with regards to services that are offered by the Ministry of the Economy, including Trademark related services.

The UAE government has made the decision to reduce fees with regards to services that are offered by the Ministry of the Economy, including Trademark related services. Under Cabinet Ministerial Decision 20/2020, a range of current fees will be discounted. The government has taken the decision as a measure to offer assistance to Small and Medium Enterprises which have been gravely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision was issued on March 31st 2020, and took effect from April 5th 2020(Please note that Sunday is the first working day of the week in most Middle East countries).

Some of the salient changes/reduction include but not limited to:

Official Fee for Search with the Trademark Office has been reduced from 500 AED to 350 AED

Official Fee for Filing a Trademark with the Trademark Office has been reduced from 1000 AED to 750 AED

Official Fee for Publication of a Trademark has been reduced from 1000 AED to 750 AED

Official Fee at the time of Registration has been reduced from 6700 AED to 5000 AED

Official Fee for Renewal of a Trademark has been reduced from 8700 AED to 6500 AED

Official Fee for Filing an Opposition has been reduced from 10,000 AED to 7500 AED

Official Fee for an Appeal against the decision of the Trademark Office in an Opposition has been reduced from 10,000 AED to 7500 AED

The respective trademark office continues to operate as normal, as most services are offered online. The Trademark Office has currently not given any extension to previous deadlines. Therefore, clients are encouraged to take advantage as the latest reductions.
