The SME Fund 2026, a European Commission initiative implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), is now open and will run until 04th December 2026, subject to availability of funds.

The scheme provides financial support to EU-based SMEs to help cover the cost of protecting intellectual property rights. Applications may be submitted by an SME owner, employee, or authorised representative.

Eligible SMEs may benefit from a 75% reimbursement of official trademark, design, and patent fees at both national and EU level, up to:

  • €700 for trademarks and designs
  • €1,000 for patents
  • Up to €2,500 for European patents filed at the EPO

Each SME may apply for one voucher per IP activity per year. SMEs that applied between 2021 and 2025 may also apply in 2026 for different IP rights, with a fast-track process available for previous beneficiaries.

Applications are accepted from 02nd February 2026. Successful applicants receive a voucher following approval. Costs incurred before voucher approval are not eligible for reimbursement.

Funding is limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis.
