On October 24, the Panamanian Congress (Asamblea Nacional de
Panamá) passed bill No. 665 to safeguard and guarantee
citizens' constitutional right to the protection of personal
data (source document in Spanish). The bill appoints the Data
Transparency and Access to Information Authority (Autoridad
Nacional de Transparencia y Acceso a la Información) as
the governmental agency with authority to protect personal data in
connection with information and communication technologies.
