Arnold & Porter's work for Monsanto on its acquisition by Bayer was named "M&A Deal of the Year" at the 2019 IFLR Americas Awards. Arnold & Porter advised on the merger control aspects of the $66 billion acquisition of Monsanto.
The fourteenth annual IFLR Americas Awards recognized the "most legally innovative transactions closed in the continent during 2018" and considered the Monsanto acquisition as a deal featuring "multiple distinct innovations." IFLR highlighted the deal as "the largest completed all-cash takeover in history, the largest ever acquisition of an American company by a foreign buyer and the largest ever M&A transaction by a German company."
Arnold & Porter's Financial Services Regulatory team was also shortlisted as an IFLR Americas "Team of the Year;" IFLR applauded the team's "innovative work" in regulatory technology, cybersecurity, and fintech.
