Cole Schotz P.C. is pleased to announce the arrival of Megan D. Ferris as special counsel in the Tax, Trusts & Estates Department in the firm's Miami office.

Ms. Ferris advises high-net-worth individuals, global families, and multinational businesses, helping clients navigate complex U.S. and international tax challenges from voluntary disclosures and tax controversy matters to pre-immigration and expatriation planning, cross-border structuring, and corporate transactions.

Ms. Ferris also advises corporations and partnerships through every stage of the business life cycle, from structuring and formation to financing, restructuring, and wind-down and exit strategies. For multinational enterprises, she designs efficient cross-border structures and helps clients navigate issues such as treaty application and the various U.S. anti-deferral regimes.

"I am thrilled to be joining Cole Schotz and be a part of the firm's growing presence in Miami," said Ms. Ferris. "I look forward to working with the firm's talented Tax, Trusts & Estates attorneys and collaborating on matters with my colleagues across several departments to best serve clients."

"Shortly following the one-year anniversary of opening our Miami office, we're thrilled to welcome Megan to our growing team of talented lawyers," said member Luis Salazar, who launched the firm's Miami office last June. "Megan's experience guiding high-net-worth individuals and multinational organizations through complex tax challenges will be a tremendous asset to our clients."

Ms. Ferris joins the firm from Day Pitney LLP, where she served as a senior associate. She earned her J.D. and Tax LL.M. from the University of Miami School of Law and her B.S. from the University of Florida. She also has a Master of Accountancy from Nova Southeastern University. Ms. Ferris also maintains a strong commitment to pro bono service, having co-drafted and reviewed a U.S. Supreme Court amicus brief for Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, pamphlets for homeless youth and publications for foster care youth.
