Earlier today, William Ahern (Bill) from our Private Client team hosted a CPD seminar on the "Rule of Law". The seminar covered a range of topics, including the definition of the "rule of law", indicators of its presence or absence, statutory recognition, historical development, international aspects, and how different jurisdictions approach the concept.
Bill brought a wealth of experience to the session. Admitted to practice in Hong Kong, Queensland and England & Wales, he spent years specialising in tax planning and tax litigation before acquiring the only legal practice on Norfolk Island.
He is experienced in Hong Kong revenue law, trust law and regional tax planning, including offshore aspects of Australian tax law, frequently advising on a wide range of family wealth conservation and succession issues.
