Our Real Estate, Construction, Corporate and Environment teams have advised Howdens, the UK’s number one trade kitchen supplier, on several interconnected matters supporting the £100 million expansion of its cabinet manufacturing facility in Runcorn, Cheshire.
The expansion will increase the size of the site by 40%, from 500,000 sq ft to 700,000 sq ft, and marks the latest phase in Howdens’ continued investment in its UK manufacturing operations. Expected to take around three years to complete, the project will deliver a new factory equipped with state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing machinery, creating one of the largest cabinet production lines in the world and supporting the company’s growth plans across the UK, Ireland and France.
Mike Trainer, Howdens’ Client Partner, oversaw a coordinated cross‑firm team advising on several workstreams.
This included support from Partner Chris Letters and Senior Associate Vic Sewak (Corporate); Legal Director Andy Bennett (Real Estate); Partner Mark Stephenson (Construction); and Partner Ben Stansfield (Environment and Planning).
Speaking about the project, Mike Trainer said: "Supporting Howdens on this expansion has been about helping them realise their long-term ambitions through truly collaborative working, bringing together our Corporate, Real Estate, Construction and Environment teams. It’s been a privilege to deliver joined‑up advice that aligns with the client’s long‑term vision for the site and their continued growth."
