Hong Kong – Global law firm K&L Gates welcomes Guiping Lu as a capital markets partner in its Hong Kong office. Lu previously served as a partner with K&L Gates from 2019 to 2021 and rejoins the firm from the Hong Kong office of Mayer Brown with counsel April Liu.

Lu focuses his practice on international debt and equity capital markets transactions. He represents underwriters, issuers, and investors in high-yield and investment-grade debt offerings, convertible bonds, medium-term note programs, and a broad range of liability management transactions, and advises investment banks and issuers on equity offerings, including Hong Kong IPOs with Rule 144A tranches. Lu also advises clients on cross-border M&A, venture capital, and pre-IPO financings, as well as US securities law matters.

Adam Tejeda, lead practice area leader for the Corporate practice, said: "Guiping's return deepens our corporate bench across the full deal lifecycle. He brings pragmatic, issuer- and underwriter-side perspective to complex financings and strategic M&A, and his US securities experience will further strengthen how we help clients navigate Hong Kong-US cross-border transactions."

Ryan Dwyer, Asia regional managing partner, commented: "Clients across Greater China and the broader Asia region are seeking seamless support for multijurisdictional capital markets activity. Guiping's track record spanning PRC, Hong Kong, and US matters aligns squarely with that demand and with our strategy to continue scaling integrated transactional capabilities in Asia."

Vincent Tso, Hong Kong office managing partner, added: "Hong Kong remains a dynamic venue for IPOs, follow ons, and debt offerings. Guiping's experience on listings and related corporate transactions complements our office's strengths and enhances the collaborative way we deliver for local and inbound clients."

Lu is the third partner to join the firm's Hong Kong office in the last year, following Asset Management and Investment Funds partner Huberta Chow's arrival earlier this month and Capital Markets partner Janney Chong's arrival in April 2025.

K&L Gates' Corporate practice is one of the most substantial in the legal industry, with hundreds of lawyers assisting clients in the structuring, financing, and completion of domestic, international, and cross-border transactions. The group serves as counsel to a broad array of Global 500, Fortune 100, FTSE 100 corporations, privately held and venture-backed companies, partnerships, private equity firms, other investment funds, management groups, and entrepreneurs, helping to earn K&L Gates the distinction of Corporate "Law Firm of the Year" in the 2024 and 2022 editions of Best Law Firms®.
