Kathleen A. Kirby, co-chair of the Telecom, Media & Technology Practice, has been named the new Chair of the Media Institute’s Board of Trustees, effective January 31, 2026. Kirby succeeds Wiley’s Chairman Emeritus Richard E. Wiley in the role.

In addition to being a long-time member of The Media Institute’s First Amendment Advisory Council, Kirby also serves on the Steering Committee of the Institute’s Madison Project. She previously served as president of the Federal Communications Bar Association and received the 2024 Leadership Award from the Broadcasters Foundation of America.

The Media Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization specializing in communications policy and the First Amendment.
