LEXINGTON, Ky.—Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton recently appointed Stites & Harbison, PLLC attorney Elizabeth "Betsy" Johnson to the Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning Board of Directors. The appointment was confirmed by the Lexington Fayette Urban County Council. She will serve a four-year term.
The Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning is a non-profit organization that promotes literacy among residents of Fayette County. The center offers a wide variety of services, including seasonal classes on writing, publishing and languages; tutoring for students from grades K-12; youth and family programs as well as outreach programs for children and adults.
Johnson is a Member (Partner) based in Stites & Harbison's Lexington, Ky., office. She concentrates her practice on all aspects of health care law, focusing on regulatory matters impacting both providers and payors. In her diverse career, she has served in both legal and policy roles in state government and the private sector. On behalf of governmental agencies and while in the private sector, she successfully advocated for the passage of legislation impacting health care by testifying before numerous legislative committees and meeting with members of the Kentucky legislature and members of Congress. Johnson has spent her career building and maintaining relationships with individuals on both the state and national level.
Outside of the firm, Johnson stays active in a variety of professional organizations. She is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the American Health Law Association.
