Valerie earned her LLB from the University of Calgary and was called to the Alberta Bar in 1989. She is a King’s Counsel, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and recipient of the Women in Law Leadership Award for Leadership in Private Practice. In 2025, she was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for her significant contributions to the community.
