This prestigious conference, which runs from November 30 to December 2, serves as a forum for senior tax practitioners and senior government officials to share their experience and discuss their reactions to current tax issues and challenges.
A Comparison of Canadian and U.S. Taxation of Partnerships
On December 1, Saul and Rob will be presenting on structuring of partnerships and other flow-through entities commonly used in cross-border business. Their paper, A Comparison of Canadian and U.S. Taxation of Partnerships, educates tax practitioners and industry accountants on the similarities and differences in the Canadian and U.S. tax regimes regarding partnerships and flow-through entities, how these entities can be used to optimum effect and what current and future pitfalls may arise for unwary practitioners.
First Nations Taxation
On December 2, Aaron – alongside fellow panelist Deana Morton, CPA (MNP LLP) will be presenting First Nations Taxation, a presentation with accompanying paper that discusses taxation topics that emerge from First Nations participating in commercial projects. Tax impacts from both the commercial enterprise perspective as well as the First Nations perspective will be considered. Examples and considerations for the energy industry will be included.
