As chair of Marshall Gerstein’s IP Transactions group, Pam’s practice focuses on unraveling complex deal structures and devising creative agreement solutions as well as IP protection strategies and alternative dispute resolution for clients ranging from multinational corporations to non-profit institutions. As a patent attorney who started in-house doing technology transfer more than 30 years ago, Pam is an active supporter of advancing the licensing profession and governance, Pam is President elect, elect of the Licensing Executive Society International (LESI), the former President of the Certified Licensing Professionals, Inc., and multi-term former Member of the Boards of each organization, frequent invited international presenter and instructor including for AUTM, and an adjunct professor at Northwestern School of Law.
Ryan represents numerous startup and Fortune 500 clients with patent matters in technical areas and industries including artificial intelligence and machine learning, blockchain and cryptocurrency, medical devices, biometrics data and services, virtual reality, imaging, internet and e-commerce, computer networking, data storage and management, encryption and security, mobile telecommunications, consumer electronics, insurance and finance applications, mechanical devices, among others. Ryan regularly publishes thought leadership articles and speaks on IP law and modern technologies. He frequently writes on the subject of AI at his blog PatentNext at patentnext.com. Ryan also teaches at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, including coursework on Patenting Software Inventions in the United States.
