WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 17, 2025) — Bolstering its global White Collar team, Barnes & Thornburg has welcomed seasoned investigations partner Margot Laporte, boosting the firm’s ability to guide clients through increasingly complex cross-border enforcement challenges.

Laporte focuses her practice on cross-border internal and regulatory investigations, white-collar criminal defense, securities enforcement matters, and regulatory compliance, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), anti-money laundering regulations, economic sanctions laws, insider trading and accounting fraud. A French citizen, Laporte is fluent in French.

“We are delighted to welcome Margot to Barnes & Thornburg. Her exceptional track record adds a powerful dimension to our White Collar practice,” said Randy Brown, chair of the firm’s Litigation Department. “With the regulatory and enforcement landscape ever evolving, organizations face a high risk of litigation and investigation. Margot’s arrival further reinforces our commitment to delivering top-tier representation in these high-stakes matters, both domestically and internationally.”

Laporte has represented global public companies, boards of directors, audit committees and financial institutions before numerous U.S. and foreign regulators, including the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, as well as the French Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) and other foreign regulators.

“I am thrilled to join the BT team,” Laporte said. “The firm’s reputation for collaborative client service, strategic litigation strength, and global reach aligns perfectly with my practice. I look forward to working with this outstanding group of colleagues to provide clients with sophisticated, results-oriented counsel across investigations, enforcement, and litigation.”

Laporte received her J.D. from Duke University School of Law and her A.B. from Dartmouth. She joins a team of nearly 50 lawyers in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.

Barnes & Thornburg continues to defy the legal industry trend of consolidation with its organic growth. In 2025, the firm has welcomed over 100 new lawyers and business professionals across its 23 offices and bolstered core practices, including corporate, litigation, and intellectual property, among others.
