Young Moore attorney Walter E. Brock, Jr. has been elected President of the North Carolina Supreme Court Historical Society (NCSCHS). His election was announced during the organization’s Annual Dinner, held October 20, 2025, at the Talley Student Union at North Carolina State University.

The evening also featured a tribute to Chief Justice (ret.) Cheri Beasley, who made history in 2019 as the first African American woman to serve as Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. She began her judicial service in 1999 as a district court judge, later serving on the North Carolina Court of Appeals before her appointment to the Supreme Court in 2012. Over her distinguished career, she presided over thousands of cases spanning civil, criminal, and complex commercial matters.

A shareholder at Young Moore & Henderson, P.A., Walter focuses his practice on insurance law, civil litigation, and appellate advocacy. He is the author of the book chapter on professional liability insurance in the LexisNexis Practice Guide: North Carolina Insurance Litigation.

Walter has served the Bar in numerous leadership roles, including President of the Wake County and Tenth Judicial District Bars, Hearing Officer on the North Carolina State Bar Disciplinary Hearing Commission, and as a State Bar Councilor representing the Tenth Judicial District, where he served on both the Grievance Committee and the Authorized Practice of Law Committee.

He is an elected member of the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and a Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel (ACCC). Walter is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America©, Chambers USA, North Carolina Super Lawyers®, and Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite™.
