Philadelphia Gay News has named Ballard Spahr Litigation Associate Elizabeth P. Weissert one of its 49 Most Influential LGBTQ+ Leaders.
The 49 honorees—chosen to celebratethe publication’s 49th anniversary—have shown leadership in advocacy, creativity, health, and visibility. Liz was recognized in the Community Organizers category, which highlights activists whose grassroots efforts strengthen and unite the Philadelphia-area LGBTQ+ community, for her work as the President of the Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association.
At Ballard Spahr, Liz practices complex commercial litigation with a focus on federal antitrust litigation. In her robust pro bono practice, Liz primarily represents clients who are transgender in name change matters. Along with the Rapid Defense Network and the Transgender Law Center, Liz represented a group of transgender individuals who were held in ICE detention during the COVID-19 pandemic seeking release. She also is a member of Equality Forum’s Board of Directors, serving as the group’s treasurer.
