As pressure mounts following the imposition of increased tariffs and the passing of an August 1 deadline, Shore emphasized the political complexity and long-term nature of the discussions.
"This is not a usual negotiation — it's more of a political negotiation to find a way to bring down the tariffs that have been in place since March," said Shore. "There's no reason we absolutely have to stop just because we've reached a deadline. I really believe we need to see this as a long game — it's not elbows up; it's about skating hard, right to the goal."
