Thompson Coburn partner Booker Shaw will be a featured honoree in the Judicial Legacy Project Exhibit, opening September 4 at the Law Library Association in St. Louis.
The exhibit, spearheaded by the Honorable Nicole Colbert-Botchway, a Law Library Association of St. Louis Board member, celebrates the profound contributions of judges from the 22nd Judicial Circuit. The project thoughtfully preserves their reflections and insights through interviews with retired judges and remembrance videos for those who have passed.
Many of the judges highlighted in the exhibit, including Judge Shaw, were trailblazers—among the first women and African American individuals to serve in their judicial roles. In addition to Judge Shaw, the exhibit will feature Evelyn Baker, Clyde Cahill, Anne-Marie Clarke, Mary Kay Hoff, Margaret Neill, Richard Teitelman, and Lisa Van Amburg.
In an interview with the St. Louis Judicial Legacy, Judge Shaw shared his perspective on the most crucial qualities for a judge: "The lessons you learn as a child from your parents—what's right and what's wrong, what's fair and what's not—those are the lessons that I think are most important in a judge. This way, you don't worry about the political perspective of any particular player in the courtroom."
