The Myanmar Intellectual Property Department proudly hosted the inaugural International Conference on Intellectual Property at Jasmine Hotel in Naypyidaw from July 3 to 4, 2025.
This conference gathered an impressive array of keynote speakers and authors from both local and international backgrounds, including representatives from Supreme Court of the Union, Ministry of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, Myanmar Competition Commission (MMCC), Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce (UMFCCI), Myanmar Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)entrepreneurs, university students, researchers, legal professionals, and other enthusiastic participants who submitted papers for consideration.
The conference sought to highlight the crucial role of intellectual property (IP) in driving innovation, stimulating economic growth, and safeguarding Myanmar's rich cultural heritage.
As Myanmar positions itself within the global economy, establishing a robust IP ecosystem is vital for attracting investment, promoting entrepreneurship, and enhancing the nation's competitiveness on the world stage. Furthermore, the conference aimed to fortify the IP landscape in Myanmar, fostering an environment for innovation, economic development, and cultural preservation.
With around 61keynote speakers presenting various topics on the impact of IP on the national economy, the conference attracted approximately 500 participants, making it a significant step forward for Myanmar's IP journey.
Rouse Myanmar participated in this prestigious conference as well.Moe Mynn Thu, Principal, had the honour of representingFabrice Mattei, Principal, the Global Head of the Patent Group and Rouse's Climate Change Head, who had been invited by Dr. Moe Moe Thwe, Director General, Intellectual Property Department, Ministry of Commerce to submit the paper. Moe Mynn Thu delivered an insightful presentation on "Which Models of Patent Examination and Litigation Would Fit Myanmar Best?" at the event.
Meanwhile,Thet Htar Aung, our Myanmar Head of Patent, andEi Darli, our Trade Mark and Patent Attorney, also contributed to the event as participants.
