Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer (HSF Kramer) is pleased to have advised Optus on the transfer of certain Optus Sport assets, including its rights to broadcast the Premier League and FA Cup, to Stan, a subsidiary of Nine Entertainment Co.

As part of the transaction, Stan will take over Optus Sport’s football broadcasting rights and provide Optus Sport customers who remain Optus telecommunications customers with discounted pricing offers and continued access to these key football assets.

The HSF Kramer team was led by Corporate partner Mia Harrison-Kelf, with support from partners Peter Jones (TMT), Linda Evans (CRT), Patrick Clark (CRT) and Tess Mierendorff (IP), as well as Senior Associate George Psaltis and solicitors Alice Barber, Nikala Speed, and Elise Miller.

HSF Kramer M&A partner Mia Harrison-Kelf said, “It was great to work with the Optus team on this important transaction, ensuring that Optus customers continue to benefit from access to top-tier football, while supporting Optus in its focus on its core telecommunications operations.”

HSF Kramer TMT partner Peter Jones said “We are proud to support the Optus team on another excellent transaction, and are delighted to be able to bring the wider HSF Kramer team together to support our clients.”
