Jonathan P. Hummel—a registered U.S. Patent and Trademark Office attorney and member of Ballard Spahr’s Intellectual Property Department—has been elected chair of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section for 2025-2026.
Founded in 2007, the Atlanta Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section educates its members and the Atlanta community about intellectual property law and creates a forum for networking and relationships.
As chair, Jonathan will set the Intellectual Property Section’s agenda for the year, organize educational and networking events, and ensure that programming is relevant and valuable to Atlanta’s IP community. He also represents the Intellectual Property Section within the Atlanta Bar Association. He became a member of the group in 2020 and served as vice-chair in 2024-2025.
At Ballard Spahr, Jonathan focuses his practice on patent prosecution and litigation, especially in matters involving artificial intelligence, computer science, software, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and medical devices. He works with clients ranging from small start-ups to the Fortune 50 and across industries.
