Wesley Novotny spoke at the Ontario Bar Association’s
Buying or Selling a Business 2025 program. In a session on
Employee Ownership Trusts, he explored how EOTs can serve
as a succession planning tool that enables employees to acquire
ownership without directly purchasing shares.
Wesley discussed the legal structure of EOTs, key tax incentives
and the advantages for vendors and employee participants. The
session also compared EOTs to traditional third-party sales. The
program offered practical guidance on business transactions, from
planning and negotiation through to post-closing integration.
