William Fry is proud to announce its success at the prestigious Managing IP Awards 2025. The firm has been awarded ‘Irish Trademark Disputes Firm of the Year’, for the third year running, and ‘Europe Impact Case of the Year’, for its work on the landmark case, Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC v Clonmel Healthcare Limited C-149/22. The Managing IP Awards, held last night at the Royal Lancaster London, is one of the most widely respected Intellectual Property awards events in the legal sector recognising outstanding achievements in intellectual property across more than 50 jurisdictions.

With a strategic focus on the Life Sciences, Technology, Fashion and Food & Beverage sectors in particular, William Fry’s IP team is recognised both nationally and internationally as one of Ireland’s premier practices for advising the world’s leading businesses to protect and commercialise their intellectual property. The Irish Trademark Disputes Firm of the Year award acknowledges this market leading position especially in relation to contentious matters.

The Europe Impact Award is particularly noteworthy. It is in recognition of William Fry’s work on the Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC v Clonmel Healthcare Limited C-149/22 case which is a very significant case involving the interpretation of Article 3(a) and Article 3 (c) of the SPC Regulation. The William Fry team was led by Laura Scott with Colette Brady.

Commenting on the two awards, Stephen Keogh, Managing Partner at William Fry said,

These awards are a testament to the exceptional capabilities and dedication of our IP team. Winning two awards, one of them for the third consecutive year, underscores our market leading position, the best in class service we offer our clients and our IP team’s ability to handle complex and sophisticated cases and matters.
