Foley & Lardner LLP served as pro bono legal advisor to Fairfax County, VA-based Family Preservation and Strengthening Services (Family PASS) in their recent merger with Shelter House.

Foley & Lardner LLP served as pro bono legal advisor to Fairfax County, VA-based Family Preservation and Strengthening Services (Family PASS) in their recent merger with Shelter House. The combined programs will provide extensive case management to families both at risk of homelessness and the recently rehoused with the goal of strengthening families and ending homelessness in the community.

Established in 2006, Family PASS is a local nonprofit providing long-term case management to help families in Fairfax County at risk of homelessness find a path to economic self-sufficiency through intensive case management and comprehensive support services. Family PASS's signature Self-Sufficiency Program provides financial assistance and comprehensive support services to help families stabilize a housing crisis and then pursue job skills training to secure higher earnings and greater financial stability. Family PASS services will continue as a program of Shelter House.

Shelter House is a community-based nonprofit providing crisis intervention, safe housing, and supportive services to people in Fairfax County experiencing homelessness and victims of domestic violence. Founded in 1981 as a grassroots responder to the local homelessness crisis, today Shelter House operates six shelter facilities and several housing programs. In addition, Shelter House provides emergency services to victims of domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking.
