J. Benjamin Aguiñaga, an associate in Jones Day's Issues & Appeals Practice, has been elected as a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Fellows are nominated based on their outstanding professional achievements and demonstrated commitment to the improvement of the justice system in Texas. Only one third of one percent of the members of the State Bar of Texas are invited to become Fellows each year.

Mr. Aguiñaga, who is based in the Firm's Dallas Office, focuses his practice on constitutional, appellate, and complex civil matters before litigation begins and through appeal. Before joining Jones Day, he served three clerkships, including to Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. of the U.S. Supreme Court. He also served as the chief of staff of the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he helped manage division affairs and facilitate communication with DOJ leadership, other agency officials, and external stakeholders. Between law school and his first clerkship, Mr. Aguiñaga served on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, where he worked with Senator Ted Cruz's chief counsel and judiciary staff.

The Texas Bar Foundation is the largest charitably funded bar foundation in the United States. Since its founding in 1965, the Foundation has awarded more than $24 million in grants to charitable organizations in Texas in support of justice-related programs and services.
