The vessel M.V. Barzan has been announced as the latest addition to the Malta Ship Register by Transport Malta. The ship is the largest on the fleet belonging to an United Arab Shipping Company, taking up to 18,800, 20-foot containers. It is also one of the largest vessels in the world.

Its avant-garde design, engines and technology also make it the most fuel-efficient and environmental-friendly, meaning that this ship has established new international standards in these regards.

Joe Mizzi, Minister for Transport and the Infrastructure stated that the Malta flag maritime industry is synonymous with the highest standards in security and environmental awareness and protection. Furthermore, according to the Minister, Malta should strive to maintain its position at the forefront of the industry through the high quality of services offered, meeting all the needs, requirements and standards of the industry.

Notably, Malta has recently become the sixth largest ship register in the world, moving up from seventh position and remaining the largest in Europe.
