As celebrated across the world, every 26th of April, the World IP Day is one of the most celebrated events, established by the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO). As WIPO notes, the World IP event was created to:
"raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life" and "to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe".
The day was chosen as a symbolic reference to the date on which the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization entered into force in 1970.
Each year has its own dedicated theme associated with the event. This year's theme is "Women and IP: Accelerating innovation and creativity"
In 2023, we celebrate the "can do" attitude of women inventors, creators and entrepreneurs around the world and their ground-breaking work.
Women in all regions are shaping the world through their imagination, ingenuity and hard work, but often face significant challenges in accessing the knowledge, skills, resources and support they need to thrive.
World Intellectual Property Day 2023 is an opportunity to celebrate all talented women around the world! From Marie Curie to Beyonce, and beyond!
In celebration of World IP Day, we are launching Cyprus IP Day in recognition of the critical role that IP plays in fostering and promoting innovation in Cyprus. Join us for Cyprus IP Day today at 4pm at the Nicosia office of Michael Kyprianou & Co LLC.
