Global Insurance Law Connect (GILC) has published its second report on trends in the global Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance sector. The report features insights from 24 GILC member firms, highlighting key challenges faced by directors and officers and the increasing demand for D&O coverage.

As a member of the Global Insurance Law Connect Network, BUREN contributed the China insights for this report. According to Jan Holthuis, partner at BUREN: "With the implementation of the new company law in 2024, non-listed companies have also begun to recognise the importance of D&O insurance, leading to the emergence of specialised products tailored for them."

The report further indicates a growing interest in D&O coverage across markets, with increased penetration in the SME sector, irrespective of market maturity. In particular, European firms report rising awareness and demand for D&O insurance among smaller businesses and non-profit organisations.
