New pilot visa to boost Australian
tourism
The Minister for Immigration and Border Protection announces
Australia will benefit from increasing Chinese tourism through a
new pilot ten year visitor visa. A landmark Free Trade Agreement
with China was signed today by the Minister for Trade and
Investment and the Chinese Commerce Minister (17 June 2015).

Migration Trends report highlights migration

Australia's Migration Trends 2013–14 report released
today shows more than 207,900 migrants settled permanently in
Australia in 2013–14. India remained the main source country
for migrants with almost 40,000 Indian nationals migrating to
Australia in 2013–14. Australia granted 290,000 student visas
in 2013-14 (17 June 2015).

Australia and Slovenia sign a work and holiday
agreement
Slovenia has been added to a list of countries to have signed a
reciprocal agreement with Australia allowing young people to work
and holiday in each other's countries. The arrangement signed
will allow people aged 18 to 30 years to travel to each other's
country for one year and undertake short-term work and study under
the Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa (16 June 2015).

New International Student Visa Framework a win for
VET
Assistant Minister for Education and Training, has welcomed
today's announcement of a new, simplified international student
visa framework (SSVF) to support Australia's international
education sector. This new model will achieve greater equity in
student visa arrangements, and delivers benefits to a broader range
of education institutions, including VET providers (16 June 2015).
