Some of Wolf's highlights over the past year include hisUnited States Supreme Courtvictory on behalf of clients, Sanofi-Aventis US and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. InAmgen v. Sanofi, the Supreme Court upheld the Federal Circuit's application of the enablement requirement and unanimously affirmed Arnold & Porter's successful invalidation of Amgen's patents. Wolf also secured a complete plaintiff and counter-claim defense jury verdict for Hologic Inc. and affirmance on appeal, and the Supreme Court upheld the assignor estoppel doctrine.
This year, Wolf also secured a $158 million litigation win for longtime clientBoston Scientific. The case began in 2015 when Boston Scientific sued Cook Medical for patent infringement relating to endoscopic clips for the GI tract. The case was put on hold for many years pending Patent Office challenges from Cook. The litigation ultimately resumed with a seven-day jury trial commencing in Indianapolis on May 30, 2023. On Wednesday, June 7, the jury returned a verdict entirely in our client's favor, including finding that Cook willfully infringed the asserted patents and awarding over $158 million in damages.
Throughout his career, Wolf has served as lead trial counsel in some of the most significant cases brought by and against global technology companies. His professional activities focus on patent, trade secret, licensing, antitrust, and business tort issues, particularly involving life sciences technologies and computer hardware, software, and networking. While much of Wolf's practice is in federal trial courts throughout the United States, he also has extensive arbitration, appellate, and counseling/diligence experience.
