Gowling WLG applauds the Canada Arab Business Council's (CABC) 40 years of promoting stronger economic relations between Canada and the MENA region – a significant milestone that will be celebrated at the council's upcoming Gala Dinner & Business Forum on May 29 and 30.

Gowling WLG, a sponsor of the anniversary event, has maintained a close relationship with the association for several years. Ruba El-Sayegh, co-leader of Gowling WLG's Middle East Country Desk, currently serves as vice-chair and corporate secretary of CABC's board of directors. Scott Jolliffe, past CEO of Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP, served as CABC's chair between 2019 and 2022, and currently holds the position of immediate past chair.

"With offices across Canada and in the Middle East, Gowling WLG has a unique perspective with respect to the many emerging opportunities that exist between these two regions," said El-Sayegh.

"It's a vantage point that's also given us a deep appreciation for the CABC's role in growing, streamlining and promoting these vital economic relationships. As we look ahead to the next 40 years, our firm remains as committed as ever to supporting this important work."

Hosted at Toronto's Delta Hotel, the CABC's anniversary celebration will feature a number of distinguished business leaders, policymakers and government officials from Canada and the Arab world. Together, these speakers will examine the growing commercial ties between the two regions, while also highlighting new and innovative opportunities across a range of established and emerging sectors.
