Global Arbitration Review recognises the work of PLMJ Arbitration

For the third consecutive year, PLMJ is on the list of the 100 best law firms in the world for arbitration practice published by Global Arbitration Review (GAR), the leading international arbitration publication. PLMJ was the first Portuguese law firm to appear on the GAR list in 2014.

Following the analysis of the arbitration practices of law firms from more than 40 countries around the world, Global Arbitration Review (GAR) recognised PLMJ and MLGTS. These are the only two Portuguese law firms to appear on the ranking of the world's 100 best law firms for arbitration.

For José Miguel Júdice, the partner who heads PLMJ Arbitration: "PLMJ's appearance on this prestigious list for the third consecutive year is the result of recognition of the consistence and quality of a team from a wide range of practice areas located in Lisbon, Oporto and Faro, and in Maputo and Luanda through PLMJ International Legal Network. It is a reflection of the growing internationalisation of our professional practice and demonstrates that Portuguese-speaking countries are beginning to appear on the front line of commercial and investment-related arbitration. I would also like to congratulate our friends at MLGTS who have shared this honour with us since last year. To have two Portuguese law firms on the list of the 100 best firms in the world for arbitration is a remarkable achievement".

Among the cases that GAR took into account were commercial arbitrations involving construction, concession, banking-insurance and industrial disputes, in countries including Angola, Brazil, Mozambique, France, Guinea Conakry and Spain.

Global Arbitration Review (GAR) emphasises the strong track record of PLMJ Arbitration in arbitrations in Portugal, the rest of Europe and, above all, in Africa and Latin America. It also recognises José Miguel Júdice, the partner who heads PLMJ Arbitration as "one of the few well-recognised and most active international arbitrators in the country".
