Legal Update: All Things Canadian Employment Law

Tim Lawson is a Partner in Toronto and the National Practice Group Leader of McCarthy Tetrault’s Labour and Employment Group. Tim acts for many well-known Canadian and international companies operating in most sectors of the economy, including energy, financial, transportation, retail and construction. He has considerable expertise in the federal sector, where companies carry on business across provincial and national boundaries, under federal regulation.

Shana Wolch is a Partner in our Labour and Employment Group in Calgary. She assists clients with all of their day-to-day human resources matters. Shana’s practice also includes occupational health and safety (safety compliance, investigations and defence of charges), workers’ compensation and disability management, human rights, and privacy. 

Caroline-Ariane Bernier is a Partner in the labour and employment law group at the Montreal office. Her practice focuses on supporting employers under both provincial and federal regulations across various industries, including mining, manufacturing and the banking sectors.

Caroline-Ariane regularly appears before administrative and civil courts. She also provides strategic advice on all aspects of employer-employee relations and labour relations, including matters of terminations, restrictive covenants, human rights, pay equity, and in the interpretation and application of individual contracts and collective bargaining agreements. She is frequently called upon to support our teams in corporate restructuring, acquisitions, and business sales operations. 

With over 15 years of Canadian Immigration experience, Sarah is the senior immigration Lawyer in our Toronto office. She has expertise across a diverse spectrum of clients including individuals, entrepreneur’s, start ups and multinational corporations, and possesses a variety of industry experience including those in engineering, healthcare, IT, and finance. 

Marco Fimiani is an Associate in McCarthy Tétrault’s Labour & Employment Group in Toronto. He advises and represents clients regarding a variety of matters including labour arbitrations, employment standards, wrongful dismissals, occupational health and safety, and human rights. Marco works with clients in various industries, across the public and private sector, in both federal and provincial jurisdictions. 

Sarah is an Associate in the Labour and Employment Group in Vancouver. Sarah maintains a broad labour, employment and human rights practice and strives to offer practical solutions to the complex needs of her clients. Her recent experience includes representing employers in litigation before the BC Supreme Court, the BC Provincial Court, the BC Human Rights Tribunal, the BC Employment Standards Branch and the Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal.

Kimberly Lennon is an Associate Lawyer in the firm’s Labour and Employment Group in Toronto. She is committed to fostering positive and trusting client relationships while providing practical and business-minded advice.
